PLA packaging & disposable utensils
Britain is set to throw away a third more takeaway drinks cups by 2030, according to the World Wildlife Fund. Disposable packaging and catering utensils such as the forks and spoons you find in all food takeaways are becoming an issue we cant turn away from. There are wonderful initiatives such as zero waste shops that are encouraging consumers to buy their fruit and veg without packaging. But packaging is not so easy to get rid of, and sadly it is all ending up in landfill.
There are companies like Biopac that are providing eco friendly alternatives for food packaging and disposable utensils. The solution –biodegradable, disposable and packaging items made with a thermoplastic material produced from natural starches, that decomposes naturally with no harmful effects on our planet. All their products are created and designed to be kind to the environment.
PLA bioplastic packaging will help reduce any business’s carbon footprint.
Conventional plastics can take at least 400 years to break down, while PLA- which comes from renewable resources like corn starch- breaks down completely in less than 12 weeks.
Not only is the material great but they also have a a clear mission to communicate their values. Biopac takes a spin on the graphic T-shirt trend and is producing PLA graphic cups with a ‘I am not a plastic cup’ printed message on it to make a stand against plastic cups and show your commitment to the environment.
